About
Software engineer based in Melbourne.
I work across the stack, mostly on backend services and applied AI. I am currently a Software Engineer at Suncorp.
(01) Story
My focus is user experience, performance and security — in what I build and in how I maintain it.
I started in 2019 building React interfaces at Reputationaire, moved through Laravel and Vue at Dusk Mobile, then spent nearly two years at Infosys with Suncorp as the client — Spring Boot microservices, deployment scripts, and moving EC2 workloads onto Red Hat OpenShift on AWS. In 2024 I joined Suncorp directly.
Today I work on a customer-facing generative AI product on Amazon Bedrock, the FastAPI and Spring Boot services around it, MLflow tracing, and internal MCP servers that give agents access to company tools and data. I also build internal developer tools, including an AI code review tool and tools on the GitHub Copilot SDK.
I also lead discovery work, stand in as team lead, mentor and onboard newer engineers, and walk stakeholders through what we ship. I studied Computer Science at RMIT University.
(02) Principles
How I work.
- 01
Build it properly the first time.
On systems where mistakes are expensive, getting it right up front costs less than the rework.
Put AI where the uncertainty is.
Most AI features do not need autonomous agents. Work out where the uncertainty lives first, then choose between a single model call, a workflow or an agent.
Treat estimates as decisions.
An estimate is the best call you can make with what you know today. Revisit it as you learn more.
- 04
Document as you go.
Clear docs, integration guides and thorough code review make a system easier for the next person to work on.
